I came across this electone rendering accompanied by a violin and the overtones are just awesome. I am glued !
Some note on the wikipedia about the electone:
The Yamaha Electone series debuted in 1959 with the D-1, a home instrument. This was a bad moment to enter the market; as early “home entertainment centers,” electronic organs were facing heavy (and strengthening) competition from both television and high fidelity audio systems, neither of which required any musical skill, unlike the electronic organ. But by 1970, with the market waning sharply, and some manufacturers ceasing production, the Electone line, as did its competitors, embraced digital technology. This would be the key to the Electone’s survival as the traditional home electronic organ market dried up.
By the 1980s, many of the most famous names had ceased home production, but the Electone successfully translated into the modern world of digital synthesizers, now competing with such new electronic products as Moog Music, Wersi, and later Kurzweil. Electones were to be found not only in homes, especially in Japan and elsewhere in the East Asia, but also in bands and other solo and group public performances.

For our lyrics lovers, here are the lyrics of Race Hindi movie film (2008) title track - Race Saanso Ki Race Chahat ki.
Race (Hindi movie 2008) is a contorted, contemporary thriller starring Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna and Katrina Kaif. The plot reminds us of a classic nigerian lottery email and revolves around two brothers trying to kill each other in pursuit of money! So, the race for money and power ensues and the older one (Sai Ali Khan) prevails. This is one of those movies where the story takes so many unexpected turns that you sort of begin to expect the unexpected and it ceases to be a thriller anymore. But, the audio track is decent and helped Race the movie hold onto the top spot at boxoffice for 2008.
The title track (Race Saanso Ki) was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan while Neeraj Sridhar added the silver touch with his hip-rock style interludes.
I like the idea that they digitally altered Neeraj’s voice to give it a more masculine feel and suit Saif’s personality better.
I Want You To Work It For Me Like This
Oh Yeah
Show Me What You Got
Show Me When I am Here
Come Here..
Go Head Now
Yeah
Race Saanson Ki
Race Chahat Ki
Race Dhadkan Ki
My Heart Is Racing On
Race Saanson Ki
Race Chahat Ki
Race Dhadkan Ki
My Heart Is Racing On - (2)
Nasha Tera… Nasha… Nashila Nashila Hai
Allah Duhai Hai
Betabi Chaayi Hai
Muskil Judai Hai
Haan Tere Pyaar Mein
Allah Duhai Hai
Betabi Chaayi Hai
Muskil Judai Hai
Haan Tere Pyaar Mein
When I M Touching Your Body
All My Touches Are Driving Me Crazy
Leave It Just On Baby No Need To Worry
…
Hasraton Ki Jalan
Hum Bade Din Sahe
Haal Jo Bhi Raha
Na Kisi Se Kahe
Teri Zulfon Tale
Ab To Jeena Mujhe
Mang Le Tu Agar
Jaan Bhi Doon Tujhe
Ada…Aadaaa…Aaadddaaa…Ada Ne Hi Loota Hai
Allah Duhai Hai
Betabi Chaayi Hai
Muskil Judai Hai
Haan Tere Pyaar Mein
Allah Duhai Hai
Betabi Chaayi Hai
Muskil Judai Hai
Haan Tere Pyaar Mein
Faslon Se Mile
Ab Yeh Mumkin Nahi
Zindagani Meri
Kuch Tere Bin Nahi
Teri Hi Khwaab Hai
Teri Hi Pyaas Hai
Arzoo Meri Kya
Tera Ehsaas Hai
Fida…Fidaaa…Fidaa…Fidaaa Tujhpe Dil Mera
Allah Duhai Hai

Image via WikipediaI was looking for new ways to promote our Sai Baba Videos and Album of “Antha Sai” and I ran into the facebook application developers section somehow.
I decided to give it a shot and man.. it is such a drudgery!
First of all, you get all your options right on this real long form with a real small font, then you need atleast 5 people to even submit the application to the directory to make it work !!
Then, at that precise point of time when you think its all through and you are going to see your results, they will put you on hold for eternity to review your application and make it active!!
Till then, you have to pray and hope that 5 of your friends would be blind to the “application not working ” errors, trust you with their data even though the application itself not working and add it to their list of ever-growing applications!!
I clearly think this process of adding applications to facebook can me improved to provide much better services to coders and developers.

Image via WikipediaMy dad and I talked and dreamt about a Shirdi Sai Baba Devotional Album for some long time until our Sai Album finally came out in December 2007.
I was partly angry and partly frustrated that we could not do it sooner and that it took us so long to get it right. All my anger & emotions just flew out the window when I heard the song ‘Dhyaname’ at our recording studios in Hyderabad though! Our dream of a Shirdi Sai Baba devotional Album is now real ! It was just an amazing feeling and I am really thankful that I have had the wonderful opportunity of working with someone as talented as my dad’s younger brother, Sri Krishna, an upcoming music composer who scored the soundtrack for Athili Sathibabu LKG. He is slated to work on a second movie with EVV, a famous Tollywood director known for his tongue-in-cheek comedies. I hope he grows to be a successful music director and makes many more such wonderful Shirdi Sai Baba devotional Albums.
We finally named our Shirdi Sai Baba Devotional Album - ‘Antha Sai’, after a lot of back and forth. The devotional album was like my own baby, and I had to get the name right! ..May be, A little neglected in terms of marketing and promotions but every bit loved and cherished. I personally appreciated the way they mixed ‘Dhyaname’ (Track #4) in this Album. Another piece of good work was the racy track was ‘Mahadeva’. Hemachandra really brought out the best of this song and sang his heart out here.
I hope we get a chance to do a few more good albums to help promote the rich talent pool of singers originating from Telugu Nadu, while we earn a good name as a music production house.

The lyrics are written by Asif Ali Beg & Javed Akhtar. The music is composed by Rajesh Roshan. I guess the singer is Vishal Dadlani.

We spent the new years’ eve at Sandadi 2008 listening to live Telugu Music from the new & happening band - Aavakai.
They are also known as “drumstix” in the non-telugu speaking community and produce live entertainment shows and concerts in Telugu and Hindi. Surya & Sushmitha, the founders of Aavakai, are good friends of ours. Surya is the talented musician that tied the band together while Sushmitha manages their rather large group of talented musicians.
The response for Sandadi 2008 was tremendous but the place was a little too crammed for 500+ people. But what would you do when you are only on your second show as a band and are already sold out completely ? You try and deliver your best. And that is what Aavakai did. They chose a wide variety of Telugu songs and tried to reach out to the whole Audience.
Dinner and drinks were served at the Sandadi 2008 venue as well. The Food from Peacock India was good. All in all, the Audience seemed to have a blast at Sandadi 2008 and were up on their feet through out the event.
We enjoyed the electric ambience of Sandadi 2008 as much as everybody but felt that the true musical depth of this band has not been presented last night. To be honest, I liked their debut better than Sandadi 2008 , the New Year event. I hope they will continue to improvise, perform, enthuse and enthrall the bay area audience going into 2008 and for many more years to come.

Michael of Tativille posted a nice list of the Ten best movies of each year starting from 1930 to 2006.
Michael is a rare Ph.D. in the history of Art and film studies and, needless to say, a lovable film buff. Do drop him a line if you like his work.
Here is his list for 2006:
- 1. Private Fears in Public Places (Alain Resnais, France/Italy)
- 2. Syndromes and a Century (Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Thailand/
France/Austria)
- 3. Still Life (Jia Zhangke, China/Hong Kong)
- 4. Climates (Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Turkey/France)
- 5. Kodak (Tacita Dean, United Kingdom/France/United States)
- 6. Longing (Valeska Grisebach, Germany)
- 7. I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone (Tsai Ming-liang, Taiwan/France/
Austria)
- 8. Opera Jawa (Garin Nugroho, Indonesia/Austria)
- 9. Volver (Pedro Almodóvar, Spain)
- 10. Colossal Youth (Pedro Costa, Portugal/France/Switzerland)
If you look at the whole list, it is pretty dominated by American and European (Italian and French) Cinema.
p.s: It is interesting to note that India has a small contribution to the list as well - around 23 movies out of the 760. But that pales in comparison to the number of movies we make in India every year !

I wanted to do this post on top hindi movie dialogues and quotes in 2006 for some very long time. Now that 2007 is drawing to a close and we are running out of time, I decided to blog some of the best hindi movie quotes in 2006. better late than never ..what do you say/think ?
3. Pyar Aur Maut

This one is from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Amitabh plays the playboy father-in-law who breaks down when he realizes that his daughter-in-law is cheating on his son, but never opens his mouth before his son after an oath. Eventually, he becomes sick and prepares to die in silence.
He plays some very meaningful last minutes on his death bed, with his daughter-in-law on his side, where he renders this powerful sentence very casually.
Pyar aur Maut unbulaye Mahman hothe hai beta. Un dono pe kisee ko adhikaar nahee hotha.
[Love and Death are uninvited guests, my dear. No one has control over them.]
Saying so, he calmly advises his daughter-in-law to leave his son and do herself a favor.
2. Vinamratha !

This did not have the same seepage as our #1 but the ingrained irony is great! Coming from the same movie (Lage Raho Munnabhai - 2006), Vinamratha is the Sanskrit word for politeness. This is the way Arshad Warsi thinks his goon boss Munnabhai can win the heart of the movie’s leading lady - a Radio Jockie played by Vidya Balan of Parineeta fame.
But what cracks up the audience is how Munnabhai bashes up some characters in the movie to bring them to senses and tells his love interest that he tried to use ‘Vinamratha’ to win their hearts.
‘Usko maar peet ke Samjhatha tho woh thoodee mantha. Vinamratha se Samjhaya Na!’
[ If I bet him up or bashed him (which he does already), he would not listen at all. That is why, I taught him with ‘Politeness’ ]
The undercurrent of this dialogue runs directly against the core of the movie but also represents the initial conflict that the lead role Munnabhai goes through to change his inner self.
1. Gandhigiri !

This catch-phrase presented the whole era of Gandhian ideology in a new light in ‘Lage Raho MunnaBhai’, the runaway hit of 2006.
Munnabhai, the goon, is guided by his inner voice (and his recent reading spree on Gandhian ideals) to leave Gundagiri (goon lifestyle) and adopt the much harder path of non-violence, truth and peaceful resistance to injustice, coined in one simple, catchy phrase that he comes up with - ‘Gandhigiri’ !
Gundagiri tho koyee bhee kar saktha Hai ! Kya thum mere maarg par chal sakthe ho? Uska Naam hai Gandhigiri !
[Any one can lead the lifestyle of a goon. Can you follow my path? It is called Gandhigiri !
- Munnabhai’s inner voice, dressed as Gandhi, speaking to him]
The idea struck a cord with hoards of crowds that were drawn to the theatres to watch this movie. People in India started using this in their protest marches as a new way to draw attention & press. Even Indian immigrants in US of A chose to send flowers to the consulate general in a floral protest against a change of rules that could have delayed their green cards for a long time!
All of a sudden, there was a new way to protest from the streets of Calcutta to our capital D.C. ! Now, THAT is a Hindi dialogue/quote/phrase ingrained into popular culture !
These are the ones I could remember. If you can recall more, hook me up please
